Shaya Feldman

 

International contrabass player, composer and multi disciplinary Dada artist, based in Brussels. 

Studied at Jerusalem Academy of Music (BA), the Conservatoire Nationale de Paris (MA), and in the doctoral program at Orpheus Institut/University of Leiden.

Performed with National Opera of Paris, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the European and Israeli youth orchestras and founded the string ensemble ZVOV and Duo MASH. 

Composed contemporary music works performed in Europe, the USA and Israel, and recorded two albums so far: Babel and Gushpanka.   

Taught double bass at Conservatoire Royale Bruxelles, Brussels International School and as head of the string instruments department, Lod Conservatory in Israel.

 

Lectured at the EPARM meeting, the SAR conference,  the Mousrara School of Art, and the Jerusalem Academy of Music, and at master classes in Mediterranean Double Bass Forum and Aula Latina American de Contrabajo.

 

I am interested in Dada music and gibberish in particular. Dada pushes limits, challenges entrenched conceptions and has been a continued source of inspiration for my art.
